since feeling is first
who pays any attention
to the syntax of things
will never wholly kiss you;
wholly to be a fool
while Spring is in the world.
my blood approves,
and kisses are a better fate
than wisdom
lady i swear by all flowers. Don’t cry
-the best gesture of my brain is less than
your eyelids’ flutter which says
we are for each other; then
laugh, leaning back in my arms
for life’s not a paragraph
And death i think is no parenthesis. ee cummings
Feeling is first, and regardless of the logic and reasoning behind it, real passionate enduring love occurs when we let go of the syntax of things and wholly kiss and become that fool while Spring is in the blood. I believe it’s referred to in the romantic classic “Bambi” as Twitterpated. Which I would imagine is now a copyrighted word, owned by Twitter, meaning two tweeps in love. Ew. The whole point of Twitter is the syntax of things; cutting words to fit the 140 character limit, deleting a comma or a space, syntax overload. My guess not many top Tweeps (regular, not celebrity) who are cutting lose with the twitterpation right now. They will never wholly kiss while spring is in the blood, because during the kiss, their mind will start concocting 140 character descriptions of the semi-magical moment. Or they will sit in their bed with a laptop writing out their favorite poems and muse on how other poor saps have a misconstrued idea of love; meanwhile my husband sits 3 feet away, completely ready to twitterpate but quickly realizing the writing has taken over the night. ”Can I wholly kiss you later, just give me 15 minutes.” But luckily, life’s not a paragraph.
